There really is just something about the magic of redwoods with the towering trees, the quiet hush of the forest floor, and the soft mist weaving through it all.

Jen & Bob’s Prairie Creek Redwood forest elopement was the perfect example of how to create a day that feels intentional, adventurous, and completely your own.

They knew from the beginning that they wanted both the Redwood Forest and the Southern Oregon Coast — two epic landscapes in one day. With a split-day timeline and a full-day package, we were able to bring it all together in a way that felt relaxed, fun, and absolutely stunning.

Morning Redwood Forest Elopement Ceremony in a Private Grove

We kicked things off with a short 10-minute hike into a secluded redwood grove for their ceremony. They exchanged private vows surrounded by towering trees, soft ferns, and total stillness.

I had the honor of signing their marriage papers as their officiant (something I love offering couples who want to keep things intimate and simple!).

Exploring Trails + Fern Canyon

After the ceremony, we made our way through some of Prairie Creek’s smaller trails. Fallen trees, fern-covered hillsides, wooden bridges — there was something to discover with every step. Of course, we couldn’t resist some iconic “road photos” with the tall trees lining the way!

From there, we drove deeper into the park. Music up, windows down, dirt road winding through the forest… it was such a fun moment of pure joy!

Then we finally arrived at Fern Canyon. Even in the middle of summer, we managed to find quiet stretches of the trail to ourselves. With waterfalls trickling down mossy walls and wooden planks guiding us through the canyon, it felt like stepping into a rainforest. It’s truly one of the most magical spots for a redwood forest elopement.

Pro tip: Reservations for Fern Canyon are a must during peak season. I secured ours months in advance to make sure everything goes smoothly! Parking can be limited, too, so carpooling is always a good idea!

A Southern Oregon Coast Sunset Picnic to End the Day

After a midday break, we met back up to chase the second half of their adventure on the coast.

We started at one of my favorite viewpoints, where Jen and Bob had time to just sit together, soak in the views, and let the waves crash below them.

Then we wandered down to a quiet beach where Jen & Bob had a sweet little cookie picnic planned. They’d brought treats from a local bakery, and I helped set up a cozy little picnic for them to celebrate and watch the sunset. It was intimate, relaxed, and absolutely perfect.
