Alex and Sarah’s Epic Winter Lake Tahoe Proposal

Alex and Sarah shared the most epic winter Lake Tahoe proposal adventure day! They love to get after life, try new things, and see what amazing experiences they can add to their bucket list. A winter Lake Tahoe proposal was the perfect way for them to start the next chapter of their lives together… and oh did they have soooo much fun!

Alex chose Northstar in Truckee Lake Tahoe, because of its fabulous runs and beautiful views of Lake Tahoe. They share so many memories riding here of their years together. It was actually where they had their first date!

The morning began at the top of the mountain. There is a beautiful opening to the lake with a wide run just to the left of the chair lift. Alex and Sarah were off to the side, making plans for the next few runs. It was time for their epic Lake Tahoe proposal! Alex asked Sarah to take off their boards so they could walk to the middle for a picture. Watching Sarah’s excitement unfold as Alex pulled out a ring and got down on a knee was too special. Their smiles beamed off the mountains and people skiing by cheered!

What an experience documenting love on top of a mountain and then skiing down with all the ecstatic energy. This was their mountain and I was ready to let them take their time together as they showed me some of their favorite spots. The coolest place was on the backside. There they cracked open some beers at a picnic table with panoramic views of Tahoe.

After a few more great runs and a delicious lunch, we headed off the mountain back to their van, their home away from home, Vango. They eagerly put on their snow shoe gear and went off to enjoy the meadow on the backside of Northstar.

My favorite part of this day was Alex and Sarah’s cozy van session. It summed up their entire relationship together. They have been everywhere in their van! When they first met, they took a leap of faith to leave the East Coast together and head out to California. Their van embodies such a big part of who they are as a couple and how they love to get out there and experience the world. “Vango” is a symbol of perseverance, adventure and freedom.

Sarah reached out a couple of weeks after our session and said the time had come to sell their van. They were so grateful to have photos together in their home away from home. This meant the world to me.

This adventure ski proposal in Lake Tahoe was one for the books! It was so special documenting Alex and Sarah’s love, while they enjoyed some of their favorite things to do together.
