T+G’s Taft Point elopement at sunset was an unforgettable experience. T+G were so excited to create an intimate experience to honor their future together surrounded by the beauty of nature. They knew they wanted to elope just the two of them to celebrate alongside their passion for the great outdoors and adventure. Yosemite is truly the most special place for an elopement.

Their day began in the meadow of El Capitan. They took their time to take in the stunning peaceful atmosphere and enjoyed hiking around. The meadow was quiet giving them all the space to take in the beauty of Yosemite Valley. Watching the climbers on the cliff face of El Capitan was unreal and puts into perspective the vastness of the landscape around.

After enjoying the meadow, we took a short drive up to the Sentinel Dome trailhead. This 2.2 mile hike takes you to Taft Point. We took our time loading up and were off to the next big part of their day! Along our hike, we stopped to take in each changing landscape. We ventured through the trees, came across a stunning meadow of ferns, and climbed a short trail of rocks, which opened up to the massive area of granite leading to Taft Point. It was relatively easy, making it accessible for most couples, yet remote enough to feel like a true adventure.

T+G found the perfect place to exchange their vows. Standing on top of two giant rocks looking out over the valley, they shared the most beautiful moment. They cheered and popped champaign. After, I stood back and gave them space. As they explored more of the area, they reveled in all of their feelings for the day. When the sun began to dip, they stood proud on Taft Point. We got the most beautiful images of them dancing in the rays of light. This was such a stunning day and the perfect intimate experience for T+G to share their love.

Some quick tips!

Season: The best time of year for a Taft Point elopement is from May to October. This period offers the most reliable weather, with clear skies and minimal chance of road closures due to snow.

Avoiding Crowds: Summer months can be busy with tourists. Consider a weekday elopement or plan for early morning or late afternoon to avoid the peak crowds.

Proximity: Consider staying in Yosemite West, on a campground, or in a hotel inside the park to cut down on drive time and ensure you’re close to your elopement site.

Cell Service: There is minimal to no service inside the park. Downloading maps beforehand is essential.
