Yosemite is one of those places that feels larger than life. But Malia and Blake’s wedding day proved that even in a destination known for its epic scenery. The moments that matter most are often the ones shared with the people you love. Their Swinging Bridge Yosemite elopement brought together everything they wanted from their spring wedding day. Family, adventure, meaningful traditions, and time to truly enjoy the experience instead of rushing through it.

With 20 of their closest family members and friends, three dogs, and some of Yosemite’s most iconic views, their day felt personal from start to finish. From a quiet first look at Lillaskog Lodge to private vows overlooking Taft Point at sunset. Every part of the day was intentionally planned to balance time with loved ones and time alone together.

Getting Ready Together While Still Making Space for Private Moments

One of my favorite parts of this day was how Malia and Blake chose to rent Lillaskog Lodge, a large property near Yosemite, where their family could stay with them for the wedding weekend. The night before, everyone gathered for a barbecue. Making the celebration feel less like a single event and more like a full experience shared with the people who mattered most.

On the wedding morning, they got ready separately with their families before meeting for a first look in a beautiful gazebo on the property. Surrounded by trees, mountain views, and the excitement of the day ahead, it was the perfect way to slow down and spend a few quiet moments together before heading into the ceremony.

A Family-Focused Spring Yosemite Elopement at Swinging Bridge

For couples planning a spring Yosemite elopement with guests, logistics can play a big role in the experience. Swinging Bridge was the perfect ceremony location for Malia and Blake because it offered incredible Yosemite views while still being accessible for their family and wedding party. Because parking can be limited in the area. Everyone arrived early, and thankfully they secured some of the last available spots. It was one of those small planning decisions that made the rest of the day run smoothly.

Their ceremony overlooked Yosemite Valley with breathtaking views of Yosemite Falls in the distance. Family members gathered beneath the trees while their three dogs joined in the celebration. One of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony was when Malia and Blake incorporated jumping the broom. A beautiful tradition symbolizing the beginning of their new life together. It added such a personal and intentional touch to an already emotional ceremony. Afterward, everyone headed to The Ahwahnee for brunch, giving guests time to relax, celebrate, and enjoy the rest of the afternoon together before the next part of the adventure began.

Private Vows and Epic Views During This Swinging Bridge Yosemite Elopement

While the ceremony was all about celebrating with family, the evening was reserved for just the two of them. We met back up at Taft Point for sunset portraits and private vows. And it was the perfect contrast to the earlier part of the day. As incredible as Yosemite Valley is, there’s something about standing at Taft Point that makes you feel completely surrounded by the landscape. The cliffs, layered mountains, and endless views create one of the most unforgettable backdrops in the park.

The hike out gave us one unexpected bonus too, we spotted a bear in the distance scratching against a tree. He kept to himself and stayed far away, but it felt like one of those classic Yosemite moments that you couldn’t plan if you tried. As the sun started dropping lower, Malia and Blake exchanged private vows overlooking the valley. After spending the morning surrounded by family and friends, having this dedicated time together allowed them to slow down, reflect on the day, and fully soak in the fact that they had just gotten married!
