If you’ve ever wondered whether you have to choose between an intimate adventure and celebrating with the people you love most, Amanda and Bob are proof that you absolutely don’t. Their Redwoods National Park elopement was the perfect mix of both. They spent the morning exploring the forest together, sharing private vows beneath towering redwoods, then welcomed their family later in the day for a beautiful ceremony and forest reception. It felt relaxed, intentional, and completely centered around what mattered most to them. From waterfalls and fallen trees to candlelit dinner tables tucked beneath the redwoods, every part of their day felt like it belonged exactly where it was.

Why This Redwoods National Park Elopement Had the Best of Both Worlds
One of my favorite things about Amanda and Bob’s day was how intentionally they built their timeline. Instead of trying to squeeze everything into one experience, they gave themselves space for both. The morning was just for them. We wandered through the redwoods, stopped by massive fallen trees, explored lush fern-covered trails, and found beautiful waterfalls where they exchanged private vows without anyone else around.
Later that afternoon, their family joined them beneath the towering trees for their ceremony. It gave them the privacy they were hoping for while still allowing their loved ones to witness such an important part of the day. If you’re dreaming about an elopement but don’t want to leave family completely out of it, this is honestly one of my favorite ways to do it.

Private Vows, a Hiking Adventure, and a Forest Reception
The morning felt peaceful in the best way. There was no rushing from one event to the next, just plenty of time to soak everything in. We explored winding trails lined with ferns and climbed over fallen redwoods. They admired the incredible root systems and took portraits surrounded by some of the most beautiful forest scenery imaginable. Amanda and Bob were smiling the entire time. You could tell they weren’t thinking about a timeline or checking the clock; they were simply enjoying being together. Those slower moments are often the ones couples remember most, and they’re exactly why I love planning adventure-focused elopements.

Celebrating with Family at Their Dream Forest Reception
After their ceremony, the celebration shifted into one of the dreamiest forest receptions I’ve ever photographed. Long tables were tucked beneath the redwoods, surrounded by candlelight, lush florals with vintage-inspired details. And the most beautiful golden light filtering through the trees. Guests enjoyed an incredible dinner, heartfelt toasts, cake, and even a live harpist. Their details added such a peaceful atmosphere to the evening.
It truly took an amazing team to bring this vision together. Every piece felt intentional: from the incredible planning and design by Above & Beyond Creations to locally catered food, hand-grown flowers by Misty Mountain Flora paired with eco-friendly silk florals from SB Blooms, and thoughtful details like Napa wine from Ledson Winery. Amanda even scheduled an afternoon hair and makeup touch-up before the ceremony. This small detail made such a difference after spending the morning adventuring through the forest! Her hair and makeup was done by Jadabaca Beauty and Esthetics by Corinne.
